Freedom from
Violence Act
The Freedom from Violence Act would put a price on violence and direct that money toward active nonviolence.
Measure the cost.
Quantify the monetary cost, revenue and profit from products of violence—including guns, toys, video games, movies, TV and advertising.
Fund nonviolence.
Establish a fee or damage assessment on producers and consumers of violent products, with proceeds directed toward addressing violence.
The proposal and a companion constitutional amendment aim to begin a broader legislative and cultural conversation, starting in Minnesota.
The September 2026 source draft records endorsement by the Twin Cities Nonviolent board on September 12, 2026. This is a proposal, not an enacted law.
